OSHO Unclutter your mind

Unclutter your mind

The modern mind is overloaded, and that which remains unassimilated creates neurosis. It is as if, you go on eating and stuffing your body: that which is not digested by the body will prove to be poisonous. And what you eat is less important than what you hear and see. From your eyes, from your ears, from all your senses, you go on receiving a thousand and one things each moment. And there is no extra assimilation time. It is as if one were constantly sitting at the dining table, eating, eating, 24 hours a day.

This is the situation of the modern mind: it is overloaded; so many things are burdening it. It is no surprise that it breaks down. There is a limit to every mechanism. And the mind is one of the most subtle and delicate of mechanisms.

The world was very different in the past, obviously. About six weeks’ worth of sensory stimuli six hundred years ago is what we now get in a day. Six weeks’ worth of information, we are getting in a single day — about 40 times the pressure to learn and adapt. The modern man has to be capable of learning more than ever been before, because there is more to learn now. The modern man has to become capable of adapting to new situations every day because the world is changing so fast. It is a great challenge.

A great challenge, if accepted, will help tremendously in the expansion of cons c i o u s n e s s. E i t h e r modern man is going to be utterly neurotic or going to be transformed by the very pressure. It depends on how you take it. One thing is certain: there is no going back. Sensory stimuli will go on increasing more and more. You will be getting more and more information, and life will change, with faster and faster rhythms.

Meditation is needed today more than ever before; it is almost a question of life and death. In the past, it was a luxury; few people — a Buddha, a Mahavira, a Krishna — were interested in it. Others were naturally silent, naturally happy, sane. Life was moving so silently, so slowly, that even the most stupid people were capable of adapting to it. Now the change is so tremendously fast, that even the most intelligent people feel incapable of adapting to it. Every day life is different, and the pressure is great — 40 times greater.

How to relax this pressure? You will have to go deliberately into meditative moments. If a person is not meditating at least one hour a day, then his neurosis will not be accidental; he will create it himself. For one hour, he should disappear from the world into his own being. That will release new sources of energy in him and he will be back in the world, younger, fresher, more able to learn, with more wonder in his eyes, and with more awe in his heart.

Sleep cannot help you anymore because sleep itself is becoming overburdened. Your day is so overloaded that when you go to sleep only the body falls limp on the bed, but the mind continues to sort things out. That’s what you call dreaming: it is nothing but a desperate effort of the mind to sort things out because you won’t give any time to it.

You have to relax consciously into meditation. A few minutes of deep meditation will  keep you non-neurotic. In   meditation, the mind de-clutters, experiences are digested, and the overload disappears, leaving the mind  fresh, young, clear and    clean.

Competition!

A great emperor, Nadirshah was once praying in the mosque. It was early morning, the sun had not yet risen, so it was still dark. Nadirshah was praying to the Allah and was asking for his blessings, to be victorious in life.

He was praying, “Allah, I am nobody. I am just a servant ....a servant of your servants. Please bless me. I am an emperor on your behalf, so my victory is going to be your victory. But still remember, I am nobody .... I am just a servant of your servants!"

....Suddenly the emperor heard another voice in the darkness from one corner of the mosque. A beggar was also praying, “Allah, please remember, I am nobody, just a servant of your servants and need your blessings!"

The emperor was quite upset and angry at this. He started shouting at the beggar saying, "You are just a beggar and you have guts to tell Allah that you are nobody! Stop this nonsense! Who are you to say that you are ‘nobody’ when I am here? When I am saying, ‘I am nobody’, then nobody else can claim that. I am the ‘servant’ of all the Allah’s servants. How do you dare to say that you are the servant of his servants ...?"

....And the beggar was dragged far away from the mosque by the emperor’s guards.

Moral of the Story ....

Friends, did you get it ?
The desperation to be number one is still there, the same stupid competition is still on. Nothing has changed. The same calculation ..."Even if it is to be the last, I have to be the last. Nobody else can be allowed to be lower than me."

Ego cannot bring anything extraordinary in this world. The extraordinary comes only through egoless being. Until there is no understanding, one is not very authentic and unless there is no clarity in life, the mind keeps on playing such dirty games.

Secondly, one should never try to be happy at the cost of other’s happiness. That is ugly, inhuman. One should not live at the expense of others’ pleasures, but should help others to be happy ....that is holiness.

Friends, life is short, one should never get lost in any ego-trip. One should learn to create a beautiful climate in which everybody can share a little joy....!!

Have a meaningful Day Friends!

Here and Now. Osho

Dear Friends,

Here are a few beautiful words from Osho -

The Master of Masters

A child is always here now.
It never thinks of the past, nor of the future.
And whatever a child is doing, it is doing totally, intensely.
A child is so absorbed in whatever it is doing that, he forgets everything.

And that is the simple secret of happiness….

Whatever you are doing, don’t let the past move your mind; don’t let the future disturb you.

Because,  the past is no more, and the future is not yet.

To live in memories, to live in imagination, is to live in the non-existential. And when you are living in the non-existential, you are missing the existential.

Naturally you will be miserable, because this way you will miss your whole life.

Therefore, all the time you are simply missing, and you are never given two moments together by the existence. It gives you only one moment at a time.

And that one moment can either be lived, or can be missed. There are two ways to miss it ….either the past burdens you, or the future attracts you …and the present moment is gone.

You are losing the real for the unreal. This is the whole misery of humanity.

All that I am trying to help you is to understand to live in the present.

In this moment, there is no misery, no suffering, no anguish.

Just move away from the present, and you have gone into something unreal; and the unreal is bound to be miserable….!!”

Have a Nice Day Friends!

Stupidity of Greed!!

Once three priests were discussing about the mechanism used by each one of them to divide the money donated by the devotees and how one part is retained for their own needs and how the other part goes to the ‘Lord’.

The first priest said, "I draw a line on the floor and then I toss all the money in the air ….whatever lands to the right of the line I keep and the money to the left of the line goes to the Lord!”

The second one nodded saying, "My system is essentially the same, only I use a circle instead of a line. What lands inside the circle is mine, outside is his."

The third priest smiled and then said, "Even I do the same thing. I toss all the money into the air ….whatever God can grab is his …!"

Moral of the Story …

Friends, wherever there is greed, there is a hell, no heaven…The greed may be worldly or it may be otherworldly.

Without ‘renouncing’ anything, if only one can see the stupidity of one’s greed, that very seeing makes the greed disappear. One’s energy becomes free, one’s consciousness is no longer entangled, entrapped or in bondage by things such as name, fame, money, power, prestige, etc.
Friends, one should understand that the freedom of one’s consciousness is the greatest rejoicing in life….!

Have a Wonderful Day!
